Battle of Steeltown is the first expansion to Wasteland 3, bringing the Steeltown into the game. .

Summary

The towering factory complex of Steeltown manufactures all the tech that keeps Colorado running and the Patriarch in power—trucks, armor, weapons, and robots. But deliveries from Steeltown have stopped cold, and all the Patriarch is getting from Abigail Markham—Steeltown's leader—are excuses. When he sends the Rangers to investigate, they find the place is a powder keg with the fuse already lit. The workers are striking, bandits raid with impunity, and nobody is allowed through the gates, not even on the business of the Patriarch. Without help, Steeltown could crash and burn for good, and take Markham with it—but maybe that's just what it needs.

The Rangers will have to decide that for themselves.

  • Traverse the Steeltown manufacturing complex alone or in co-op in this epic narrative expansion. Take on challenging new quests, face off against new robotic enemies, and solve the mystery at the heart of Steeltown however you see fit.
  • Tactical combat is taken to new heights with new mechanics like devastating telegraphed attacks, stacking status effects, elemental shields, and non-lethal weapons—letting you solve Steeltown’s skirmishes in brand new ways.
  • Combat and gear scaling means that both new and returning players can enter Steeltown during their playthroughs for a level-appropriate challenge, with a story and cast of characters that adapt to the decisions you’ve already made.
  • The Battle of Steeltown expands the base game with new enemies, weapons, armor, and world map encounters.
  • Music Supervisor Mary Ramos and Composer Mark Morgan return with original scores and new post-apocalyptic inspired covers.

Gameplay mechanics

  • Tellurium Steel: Tellurium Steel is an alloy that is produced exclusively at Steeltown. It can be used to craft certain items and equipment, as well as make improved, elite variants of Steeltown weapons and armor. Be careful! Tellurium Steel is extremely limited in quantity, so you’ll need to pick and choose what you want to use it for.
  • Disruption Weapons: Steeltown scientists have developed Disruption weapons to pacify hostiles without killing them. They do low damage, but apply a stacking Disruption effect on targets. At 10 Disruption stacks, Steeltown workers are knocked unconscious. Markham will certainly appreciate your discretion.",
  • Stacking Status Effects: Eyes up, Rangers! Certain weapons in Steeltown, such as the Tar-Thrower, will apply status effects that stack. As more stacks are applied, the effects will increase, up to a maximum of level 10. Over time, the number of stacks will drop, along with the severity of the effects.
  • Locked On!: Watch out! That giant Powerloader has called out one of your squad members! It’ll charge the target with single-minded focus, until one of them is dead or the status effect expires. Keep your Rangers out of its reach, or find another way to slow or immobilize it.",
  • Elemental Shields: Those enemies have deployed elemental shields! They start at level 2, and will decrease by 1 level each combat turn before expiring. While active, they provide immunity to most damage and status effects, including Disruption. However, each shield is weak to its own elemental damage type. Blast them with their own element to take them down faster!
