The woman is gaunt, her clothes ragged. She is surrounded by a group of bedraggled vagrants who watch you with fear and mistrust. Del leads a group of refugees who took shelter at Peterson after they were driven off the farms in the border-country between Colorado and the plains, by the gangs that decided they want their land. They've been hiding at the base for months by the time the Rangers come to appraise their new property.
