Don't You Be My Neighbor is a quest in Wasteland 3.

Background[]

Rosie Wong, the manager of the Sans Luxe Apartments in Downtown Colorado Springs, called us with a noise complaint. One of her tenants is making a terrible ruckus. She suspects he's building bombs in his apartment, and she wants us to check it out.

Walkthrough[]

  • A simple home intervention that turns into something a bit bigger. Rosie Wong will explain that her tenant, Irv, is being extremely loud an irritating. The best way to deal with it is the Ranger way - namely, kicking down the door to apartment 3 with either lockpick 5 or explosives (they're pretty hardy). Inside, you'll be attacked by a light machine gun turret and three Irv Clones, spouting gibberish. After dispatching them, you can search the apartment to find a clone machine and an interactable computer. Use it and learn...
The titles of the text books stand out:

'Cloning in Our Time - Dream or Reality' 'Robotics Cybernetics and Cloning - The Future is Now' 'Cloning Theory and Practice' 'Life Everlasting (tm) Business Prospectus - A New You!'

The list continues but one component remains the same. The name on every title page:\n\n\n'Professor Irwin John Finster, PHD.'

  • Irv has some explaining to do. You can find over at the Market square in Downtown Colorado Springs, buying books on cloning. Talk to him and when pressed, he'll reveal that he's a fourth generation clone of Irwin John Finster - and not even a particularly good one, as while he can use his cloning technology, he can't really make proper clones to save his life. Literally: The clones of himself he created to create friends for himself gradually turned homicidal and ran him out of his apartment.
  • He will also throw some light on the history of Finster, claim that he's not a genocidal maniac like his forerunner, and you can decide whether to trust him or not. You can let him go back to his apartment and promise to be quieter, arrest him (either imprisoning him at Ranger HQ or turning him over to the Marshals, which will kill him), or... Have him and his cloning tech work for you at Ranger HQ.
  • Either way, return to Rosie Wong. She will react according to your decision: Saddened by arrests or elated by him becoming more bearable.
  • Hiring Irv for the Ranger HQ will...

Rosie Wong asked us to meet her at the Sans Luxe Apartments in Downtown Colorado Springs. Maybe she can tell us more about her problem tenant.
Rosie has been hearing strange noises from inside Apartment 3. She wants us to break in and find out exactly what Irv is up to. Apartment 3 is at the end of the long hallway, on the right.
In Irv's apartment, we found three hostile clones, a cloning machine, and research papers written by Irwin John Finster, an old enemy of the Rangers. Irv has some explaining to do.
We should tell Rosie what we learned about Irv.
We should tell Rosie what we decided to do with Irv. She's still at the Sans Luxe Apartments in Downtown.
Rosie was grateful for our help and offered a reward. Maybe she'll spread the word about the Rangers too.
We turned Irv over to the Marshals for incarceration... and probably execution. Rosie was sad to hear what happened, but she still paid us for our work.
Rosie is dead, so there's no reason to investigate the noise complaint.
Irv is dead. He won't be bothering his neighbors anymore.
We've booked Irv into holding at Ranger HQ. Rosie was sad to hear about his incarceration but glad to be rid of the nuisance.
We invited Irv to work with us at Ranger HQ. Rosie was happy to hear about his new home - and to be rid of her noisy tenant.
We sent Irv back to his apartment with a clear warning not to dabble in cloning tech anymore. Rosie was glad to learn that her tenant will be much quieter from now on.
It's impossible to finish this mission now that we've gone rogue.
We fought several identical men inside Irv's apartment, but Irv himself does not appear to be home. We should search his books and papers to find out what's really going on here.
Rosie said that Irv is probably at the bookseller's stand in Market Square in Downtown.
