Father B. Bezoar is a character in Wasteland 3: Cult of the Holy Detonation.

Background

A disheveled-looking older man paces his cell and mutters to himself. Every now and then he stops and prays.

Father Bezoar is the principal primordialist, believing in the miracle of devolution as a vehicle of unifying all believers. Literally unifying, merging them together into a single body, described by him as the ultimate joining into one body, bringing eternal love, companionship, and family to all. Until such a time, he primarily focuses on helping other primordialists reach glory, and become gloriously devolved into proto-drools and other pleasant forms, and the day-to-day operations of the cult.

Bezoar - then just B. Bezoar - first came to Cheyenne in June 2079, adding himself as maintenance administrator and distubring the facility from its long slumber.^{[confirmation required]} When the Primordialists formed, developing a doctrine of peace and (literal) unity that leverages the unique powers of the Holy Detonation, a nuclear explosion frozen in stasis and whose unique radiation mutates without killing (or at least most of them).

The Proteus, a merger of several dozen people into a single mass, is the actual leader of the Primordialists, but Bezoar is the Speaker, as one of the only people capable of understanding what the blob says. His experience has also allowed him to deal with the various protoplasmic sarcomas that dot the halls of Cheyenne, including the development of a unique skin flute capable of causing them to disperse.

With the rise of the Nucleists, however, the Primordialists fell on hard times, as Bezoar got captured and the Proteus' primary speaker was captured.

Sermon

I'm not asking you to believe in the Holy Detonation, brothers and sisters. Belief isn't necessary. You just have to look through that window over there and see it's blazing glory for yourselves.

I'm not even asking you to believe in the miracle of devolution, though if you look around at some of our congregation you can see that for yourselves too. We're all on our way. What I am asking is one simple question. Are you lonely?

Have you always felt isolated and unconnected to the rest of humanity inside the prison of your own flesh? Are you afraid you'll never be able to truly know another person, and that no other person will ever be able to truly know you?

Well, friends, oneness is the end to all of that. Oneness means you'll never be lonely again. You'll never be without love, companionship, or the warm welcome of family.

You'll never be misunderstood, never hated for being the other, never abandoned or forgotten. This is the promise of oneness, brothers and sisters, and the Proteus is the proof.

One day, when the Holy Detonation wills it, we will all be them, and they will be us, and we will be one, together and happy forever and ever, amen.
