“ | Earthrise was especially beautiful today. We continue to monitor the construction of the Citadel Starstation as ordered. The project is dangerously close to completion. Those NATO pigs will have far too much power if becomes fully operational. Soviet command's plan to remove it will become clear soon, I am sure. | ” |
Lieutenant colonel Gagarin was the commander of a Soviet space station that witnessed the destruction of Citadel Starstation in March 21, 1998 and the ensuing nuclear holocaust. Powerless to stop the carnage or return to Earth, the crew under his command decided on a suicide strike against Cheyenne Mountain, using the full weight of the station as a kinetic kill vehicle. The decision was made at 2015 hours on the day of the Great War, and descent maneuvers began shortly afterwards. However, air defenses around Cheyenne Mountain knocked the station off course, making it crash in the mountains of Yuma County, where nearly a century later it became a massive stockpile of raw materials and technology for the Scar Collectors.
