Gramps Astor is a recruitable NPC in Fountain of Dreams.

Background[]

Head of the Astor family, Gramps has retired to a separate home after his wife disappeared. He has a low opinion of his son, whom he considers a money-hungry degenerate, more or less, with B.L. Astor absolutely wasted on him. Still, despite being in seclusion, he still does repair work for his son and provides the gun shop with weapons in working order.

Interactions[]

  • Gramps is a talker and can be interviewed about his son and neighbors, like Peter Bilk. Asking about the pre-War world and nuclear power will cause him to throw a fit and throw you out, needing B.L. Astor or Granny in the party to talk to him again. With Granny in tow, he and Felix Brewhoe become mandatory members to trigger the endgame.
  • As a companion, he's at effectively max level, with decent skills, but unlikely to compare to your own long-standing party members and should be replaced after meeting Roger Ribbet.
  • Finally, attacking him will penalize all of your party members by removing 4000 experience points for killing innocents and break the game. It will, however, tell you that this indiscretion doomed Florida.

Inventory[]

  • Meat Cleaver
  • Leather Vest
  • 5x DeSoto's XXX Finest
  • Mechanic Toolkit
