It's the Hispanic Heritage Month at FANDOM! It's worth noting that Wasteland, 33 years ago, was one of the first games to allow players to create Hispanic characters with the nationality selection. What's more, the starting Hispanic character, Snake Vargas, eventually became one of the most important movers and shakers of the Arizona wasteland, saving the world twice over as a Desert Ranger! If you're interested in learning more about Hispanic heritage and how it's featured in modern entertainment, join the official Fandom HHM Discord server!

One of Us is a quest in Wasteland 3.

Background[]

Cordite says he needs to challenge Steel-Trap, current leader of the Scar Collectors, to a duel to win back control. First step is heading into the camp.

Walkthrough[]

  • This is the way to start the Cordite questline, after you arrive at Yuma with him in the party. The Mechanic will force you to choose, so you have to 86 him - no exceptions. After dealing with him, Cordite will explain that he plans to challenge Steel-Trap. Head over to the gang compound - the Dorsey guard will hassle you, until he realizes Cordite is present and let you through. Steel-Trap is in the northeastern part of the camp. Talk to him.
  • Steel-Trap will relent and agree to a Trial by Demolition - immediately. After Cordite accuses him of cowardice, he will back down and give you time to prepare, but only if you prove you're a Scar Collector. Steel-Trap demands that you make a "tough" choice: either execute an uncooperative slave or let a squad member get a permanent bio mod installed - the consequences of which are murky in the journal, but in practice, it's a free Cyborg Tech perk. Yay!
  • Once you're done, the quest completes and King Cordite starts.

Rewards[]

  • Opens up the Cordite quest line.

Raw strings[]

One of Us
Execute a \"rebellious\" slave or accept a permanent bio mod in the Scar Collector garage at Yuma County Speedway.
Executed slave
Got a bio mod
Attacked the compound
Enter the gang camp at Yuma County Speedway and talk to Steel-Trap.
Already had a mod
Talk to Cordite outside the Scar Collector garage.
Cordite perma-died
Prove to Steel-trap that the Rangers are crazy enough to work with the gangs.
Steel-Trap demanded that we make a tough choice: either we execute an uncooperative slave or we let a squad member get a permanent bio mod installed - the consequences of which are murky.
We couldn't risk the outcome of shoddy invasive surgery, so we had to put down one of Steel-Trap's slaves. We're now free to move around the compound.
Out poor squad-mate will never be the same with that bio-mod installed, but Steel-Trap has given us freedom of movement within the compound.
Now that we've openly attacked the compound, Steel-Trap won't be welcoming us.
Cordite says he needs to challenge Steel-Trap, current leader of the Scar Collectors, to a duel to win back control. First step is heading into the camp.
Steel-Trap was placated when we pointed out that our squad wasn't afraid of a little bio-modification.
Now that we have free movement in the camp, Cordite wants to talk to us outside Steel-Trap's earshot. We'll need to plan our next move.
With Ironclad Cordite dead, a direct assault on Liberty's compound is the only option.
The guards let us in once they recognized Cordite. Now we need to talk to Steel-Trap."
