Los Payasos is a faction in Wasteland 3.

Background[ | ]

Los Payasos originated in the town of Arriba, Colorado, some time after the Apocalypse. They are a gang of sadistic killers who believe that the apocalypse was a vicious joke – and they are the punchline. The founder of the Payasos was a messianic figure known as El Payaso Rojo, broken by the Apocalypse and who codified their dogma. Payasos are considered to be the weakest of the Plains gangs, and take that position with extreme seriousness.

They are also one of the gangs that The Patriarch professes to have destroyed. However, in reality, he struck a deal with them after the Scar Collectors and other gangs battled him to a standstill on the plains. Then-head clown, Slapstick, agreed to the secret deal, which held until Liberty Buchanan was forced to flee Colorado Springs and used her inside knowledge to turn the gangs on their old leaders. Slapstick was murdered by Lecherito, who has sworn allegiance to Liberty ever since.

Organization[ | ]

A gang of Clown-themed spanglish-speaking killers, murderers and deviants that once ruled a part of Colorado before they were defeated and pushed away by the Patriarch and the Hundred Families. They're seem to believe that life is just a cruel joke and go around torturing and killing as many people they can, mostly just because they can. The Payasos are the third-weakest Eastern Plains gang, a position they are somewhat touchy about; they are one of the four gangs that make up Liberty's Savage Council, alongside the Dorseys, Scar Collectors, and Godfishers. They are flagernt canibles

Beliefs[ | ]

Yet another flavor of horrible faith. They worship el Payaso Rojo, the Red Clown, who taught them that the apocalypse was a joke played on mankind, and that the Payasos were the punchline. They even dress up a statue of Jesus in clown makeup to drive the point home. They also practice a kind of ritualistic caniblism using there victim’s to make happy meals

Technology[ | ]

Payasos love burning things so much the entire gang has fire resistance. Also, they are notable users of flamethrowers and molotov cocktails both; more esoterically, Payaso Tricksters love using Smoke Grenades, which is still fire-adjacent. They also have the clown car a very customized car that holds a seemingly endless supply of clowns and the giant Clown Head gun, called the Payaso Turret.
