Promises Made, Promises Kept is an endgame quest in Wasteland 3, where you side with the Patriarch against Angela Deth. The alternative endgame quests are Downtown Showdown, Gangs All Here, and Showdown at the Broadmoor.
Background[]
Angela Deth asked us to support her in a coup against the Patriarch, but we decided to honor our original orders from Ranger Command in Arizona.
Walkthrough[]
- Once Liberty Buchanan is dealt with (assuming you didn't accept Ironclad Cordite's offer), you will be contacted by Angela Deth, asking you to make a decision: Either support her coup against the Patriarch or face one of the wasteland's finest Rangers and uphold the Patriarchy. What she asks for is against orders from Ranger Command, but...
- Either way you choose, you need to return to the Peterson Air Force Base, as Colorado Springs is locked down due to Angie's rebellion.
- You need to seize control of the base to have the full force behind you. The strength of the sides (Patriarch patriots and Ranger rebels) is the result of their loyalty rating - revealed when talking to named characters, who will sometimes display the status of their allegiance. High allegiance means more Rangers on your side. Less and... Suffice to say, there will be many more corpses to burn by the time the day's over.
- To secure the Ranger HQ, you need to disable the alarms in the armory, brig, and garage, then disable the master alert from the war room main computer.
- You can skip the entire section by just leaving through the tunnel to Downtown Colorado Springs. This will preclude using the Kodiak and force you to fight the Patriarch on foot.
- Once you are in the downtown area, you have to deal with several crises. Wastelander Refugees under Mama Cotter will be protesting against the Patriarch's rule and the whole situation can only be defused peacefully if you paid attention to good relations with the refugees (otherwise, you need to do like the Pinkertons, i.e. murder every refugee you see).
- Sheriff Daisy is neutral at this stage and will warn you about Angela up ahead. Time to get the Kodiak: You need to access the museum to turn off the alarm and open the blast doors. Enter it, track the power cables to a pressure plate in the southwest corner, then dispatch a party member to stand there and open a panel with a red override button. Press it to reveal a locked door in the back room, which contains a computer that allows you to shut down the alarm and open the blast doors.
- This is the final confrontation. You get the final choice in the matter: Side with the Patriarch or Angela Deth. You can use Hard Ass 10 and Kiss Ass 10 to persuade Angela to stand down and the Patriarch to arrest her, while letting her men go. Otherwise, you need to fight her and her men.
- Either way, the storyline comes to an end. Can you live with the endings you chose?
Rewards[]
- Colorado allied with Arizona.
Raw strings[]
Promises Made, Promises Kept Return to Ranger HQ. Retake control of Ranger HQ and find a way into Downtown Confront Angela Deth in Market Square. UNUSED UNUSED Find the tunnel access point in Downtown. Angela Deth asked us to support her in a coup against the Patriarch, but we decided to honor our original orders from Ranger Command in Arizona. We have to get back to Colorado Springs. In light of Angie's open aggression against the Patriarch, we'll need to enter through Ranger HQ. Angela Deth's team has incited rebellion at HQ. Greatski told us the key areas we need to retake. Most important is the war room, so we can open a back path into Colorado Springs, but it's locked down by security terminals in the garage, armory and brig. Now that the tunnel is open on both sides and our car is through, it's time to face Angela's squad head-on and protect the Patriarch. Angela Deth has been defeated. We managed to stop Angie, saving the Patriarch's life We can't get our car into Colorado Springs via the streets. The war room terminal said the other end of the vehicle tunnel is located somewhere in Downtown. We'll need to find the terminal that opens it. We cancelled the security alert in the garage. We cancelled the security alert in the armory. We cancelled the security alert in the brig. We've retaken the war room and opened the RHQ side of the tunnel to Downtown Colorado Springs. Greatski told us that the terminal to open the other end of the tunnel is somewhere in the Patriarch's museum."
