Ray Tracer is a sniper rifle in Wasteland 3.
Description[]
Projects a particle stream at supercollider speeds. The resulting impact force is nothing less than terrifying.
Characteristics[]
This weapon has no critical strike associated with it and can't perform Precision strikes, so strike rate is irrelevant.
The Ray Tracer synergizes extremely well with the Draw! perk due to having a magazine size of one, rendering the AP cost of firing the weapon to be far cheaper (4 AP to reload, can be reduced to 3 AP with the Advanced Materials Mag). This makes the Ray Tracer deal the most damage per AP in the Sniper category assuming the player uses the Draw! perk, as well as theoretically being able to damage multiple enemies with one shot as is due to the shotgun like narrow cone attack pattern.
The most powerfull sniper rifle using Energy cells.
Despite preinstalled Energy damage, it is possible to convert this weapon to other damage types (Fire, Cold or Explosive) by using the appropriate damage type conversion mods. This won't add a second damage type but replace the originally installed Energy damage.
Damage can be increased from various bonuses. Also Energy damage provide +99 Armor penetration, which negates target's armor completely.
Applying all bonuses (+16 Damage +93% Ranged damage +65% Energy damage) leads to the following result:
