Spitfire is a flamethrower in Wasteland 3.

Description[]

More of a flame 'rifle' than a thrower, it uses individual gobs of flame to melt foes down.

Characteristics[]

This weapon has no critical strike associated with it, so strike rate is irrelevant.

Because this weapon doesn't have a cone angle, all modifiers to it are ignored, including Extended choke's Icon Mod ExtendedChoke cone angle penalty.

Despite preinstalled Fire damage, it is possible to convert this weapon to other damage types (Cold, Energy or Explosive) by using the appropriate damage type conversion mods. This won't add a second damage type but replace the originally installed Fire damage.

Toxic Linkage Icon Mod ToxicLinkage or Crippling Linkage Icon Mod CripplingLinkage or Razor Linkage Icon Mod RazorLinkage mods can almost double this weapon's damage, giving the weapon 17 - 20 x4 (68 - 80) damage per attack.

Damage can be farther increased from various bonuses. Also Fire damage provide +99 Armor penetration, which negates target's armor completely.

Fire damage maximization example

Applying all bonuses (+8 Damage +60% Ranged damage +125% Fire damage) leads to the following result:

  • 61 - 72 x4 (244 - 288) damage in weapon stats.

In fact damage will vary depending on a target:

  • 79 - 93 x4 (316 - 372) damage against organic targets (+30% Damage).
  • 42 - 50 x4 (168 - 200) damage against mechanic targets (-30% Damage).
Cold damage maximization example

Applying all bonuses (+83% Ranged damage +60% Cold damage) leads to the following result:

  • 26 - 35 x4 (104 - 140) damage in weapon stats.

In fact damage will vary depending on a target:

  • 33 - 45 x4 (132 - 180) damage against organic targets (+30% Damage).
  • 18 - 24 x4 (72 - 96) damage against mechanic targets (-30% Damage).
Energy damage maximization example

Applying all bonuses (+83% Ranged damage +65% Energy damage) leads to the following result:

  • 27 - 36 x4 (108 - 144) damage in weapon stats.

In fact damage will vary depending on a target:

  • 35 - 46 x4 (140 - 184) damage against mechanic targets (+30% Damage).
  • 18 - 25 x4 (72 - 100) damage against organic targets (-30% Damage).

Applying all bonuses (+50% Ranged damage +95% Explosive damage) leads to the following result:
