It's the Hispanic Heritage Month at FANDOM! It's worth noting that Wasteland, 33 years ago, was one of the first games to allow players to create Hispanic characters with the nationality selection. What's more, the starting Hispanic character, Snake Vargas, eventually became one of the most important movers and shakers of the Arizona wasteland, saving the world twice over as a Desert Ranger! Steeltown is the main quest in Wasteland 3: Battle of Steeltown.

Background[]

We've been asked to investigate the cause of a production slowdown from the factory complex in Steeltown.

Walkthrough[]

  • The quest activates automatically upon entering the world map after acquiring the DLC. The Patriarch - or anyone surviving at that point - contacts the Rangers and asks them to investigate the troubles at Steeltown, the economic powerhouse that drives Colorado ever forwards (and supplies all the tools, vehicles, weapons, armor, and other supplies necessary for the nation to function). Located in the Southern Dunes to the southwest, Steeltown is accessible from level 9 onwards.
  • Upon arrival, the Rangers will meet Bennie Bianchi, who will cheerfuly refuse entrance and tell them to talk to Doctor Breeler in the Human Resources Evaluation Center near the gate, and complete the standard health screening for prospective employees. Breeler will explain the powerlessness he's experiencing and refer the Rangers into the Biometric Assessment Pod, which will handle everything. The Rangers have to answer three questions (allergies, medical history, cybernetic implants), but the answers don't matter, as the end result will always be 100%. Next up is the ocular scanner (answering incorrectly or choosing the Star Trek reference - also incorrect) will result in correctly failing the test and passing it.
  • Finally, the Targeted Resourcefulness Assessment Procedure (TRAP) to assess your Ranger skills. You can proceed with the test or use Nerd Stuff 9 to force quit it and earn a clue: The TRAP has been tampered with remotely to force a PASS result for every choice you make, and made it deliberate, so that you can learn what happened. Suspicious! Anyways, here are the questions:
TRAP
Fortitude: Statement One: 'I am willing to work from _____ each day.' A - Nine to Five B - Eight to Six C - Seven to Ten D - Home
Aptitude: Statement Two: 'When confronted with a square peg and a round hole, I ____.' A - Use a lathe to round the peg. B - Use a jigsaw to square the hole. C - Get a bigger hammer. D - Neither
Attitude: Statement Three: 'Sentient Machines are ____.' A - A myth. B - A threat. C - The future of computation. D - Watching us at all times.
  • You will complete the test at 100% and get a pass, which automatically grants access to the main Arcology. As soon as you approach the gate and it opens, though, a strike team of Ghost Gang members appears and attacks. You need to fight them.

Rewards[]

  • Money and reputation.
