Wasteland Wiki

War of the Worlds? is a quest in Wasteland 3.

Background[]

We received a radio call from a tellurium miner that needs help. It was hard to understand his exact problem. Something about Martians? Bulb's mine is infested with robots. He has asked us to get rid of them so he can access his mine again. He's also worried about someone named Trudy and wants her necklace returned in case she's dead.

Walkthrough[]

  • Welcome to the Tellurium mine, where you'll be introduced to a few robots. Nothing big, honest. Talk to Bulb to get your bearings, then head down the eastern path and enter the mine. You can repair the scavenger bot by the entrance to the mine with Mechanics 6 and get a suggestion to help Null Stack.
  • Inside... Well, you have a Scorpitron and Earl, with two octotrons in tow. Wonderful. You can talk to Null Stack, the damaged drone on the ground level, and learn that he's the scavenger who made a deal with Bulb, explain the concept of the Great Reboot, and that it's one of a rare breed of robot that isn't planning the downfall of humanity (just don't play along with his schtick and don't shoot him). You can agree to help take out Earl and the Scorpitron, which gives you several allies and cuts down on the number of targets.
  • You can also use the computer in the corner to use the Hephaestus plasma mining laser to take out the nearest robot (only works outside combat and takes out an octotron) or you can destroy it and claim is as a turret mod for your kodiak (vehicle). After everything's wiped out, collect Trudy's collar from her body and return to Bulb to bear the bad news.
  • Bulb will react depending on whether you worked with Null Stack or not. If you did, he'll be angry that he's back at square one; otherwise, he'll be elated that he only needs to work for the Patriarch now. If you had asked for a reward, and killed (or imply that you killed) Null Stack, he will give you the skill book Forewarned is Forearmed.

Rewards[]

Save Null Stack
Destroy Null Stack

We need to head to the mine where the distress call originated and locate Bulb. And then figure out what the hell he means by \"Martians!\"
Bulb's mine is infested with robots. He has asked us to get rid of them so he can access his mine again. He's also worried about someone named Trudy and wants her necklace returned in case she's dead.
With all of the robots vanquished, we need to look for signs of Trudy or her necklace.
Oh Trudy, the poor old gal met an unfortunate fate. Her collar has been acquired. Time to deal with those robots.
Trudy the dog didn't make it. We should tell Bulb the good news about the robots and the bad news about Trudy. At least we can give him her \"necklace.\"
Get Trudy's necklace: Check. Vanquish robots: Check. Time to tell Bulb the good news and the bad news.
Bulb gave us a book he says is \"interesting.\" For all that effort it better be! Hope he finds a new 'woman.'
We've made a friend of Bulb. Maybe when he gets his mine working again he'll remember the effort we made. Hope he finds a new 'woman.'
Poor old Trudy, a dog, didn't make it. We should tell Bulb the good news about the robots and the bad news about Trudy. At least we can give him her \"necklace.\"
After teaming up with Null Stack and the scavanger bots, we've defeated the synth and its followers. Now we need to look for signs of Trudy and her necklace.
Bulb lived up to his word and rewarded us for our hard work. He's got a lot of work to do, but things are getting back to normal at the mine.
Bulb thanked us for our hard work. He's got a lot of work to do, but things are getting back to normal at his mine.
Bulb wasn't so pleased that we poked our noses in his business and worked with Null Stack.
We gunned down Bulb. That's one way to solve his anxiety.
Turns out: not Martians. Robots. Still dangerous, but less out of this world.
We talked to a damaged robot who said we should talk to another bot named Null Stack.
We offered to help Null Stack and the scavenger bots to defeat the synth and its followers. Null Stack promised to leave after they collect their tellurium.
