Upon initial meeting, you can break through his charade with Kiss Ass 6 (by calling him a cute bear who eats yummy bears), Hard Ass 7 (by ordering Rangers to shoot this obviously dangerous animal) or Animal Whisperer 8 (taming him; the initial dialogue line is a ruse and you are locked into the level 8 option afterward). |

This may be a reference to the character Old Man Vinters from the Bards Tale 2004 who used a homemade bugbear costume to scare people in the town of Houton.
